Augment your P.E. Program with our Highly Acclaimed A Star Studio Hip Hop Workshop

A Star Studio is pleased to offer our “School Hip Hop Workshop” to augment your physical education curriculum. Our talented, experienced instructors teach the latest Hip Hop styles and dance steps using popular music with appropriate lyrics to classes of up to 60 students, Kindergarten to Grade 12.

We teach a minimum of four 40-45 minute sessions for each group, culminating in an impressive performance for the students, staff and parents. The sessions are progressive and therefore each group must stay together for the duration of the program. Sample schedules from other schools can be provided upon request. The routine is learned in 3 classes and polished on the fourth class. The performance usually takes place about a week after the workshop.

REFLECTIONS

Many teachers and principals have commented on how all encompassing this experience has been for their students’ academic, physical, social and emotional well-being. Their involvement in this project augments coordination, concentration, focus, memory, listening skills and spatial direction; it encourage them to cheer each other on, so not only do they experience the excitement of the group energy they are helping to create, they are also able to recognize how important they are to the rest of the group.

Mr. John Beach, the recently retired Principal of University Hill Elementary School, sent this letter to all lower mainland schools praising our program:

“We had the pleasure of a week of hip hop dancing instruction for 475 of our students by an instructor from A Star Studio for the Performing and Fine Arts – a total of 28 classes! What a wonderful week it was! Instruction was excellent, engaging and fun. Classes were entirely geared to each grade level, K through 7 by Anita [Perel-Panar]’s talented and creative teacher. Now, weeks later, the kids are still dancing every chance they get. I would highly recommend this outstanding program as part of any school’s dance program.”

In an editorial in the École Jules Quesnel Newsletter, Principal Richard Zerbe wrote the following:

“The emphasis of the program has been on rhythm and movement set to music and fulfills many curricular outcomes. And the response has been overwhelmingly positive!”

Stacey Yip, from the Point Grey Secondary Physical Education Department, wrote the following:

“I have had the pleasure to work with Anita Perel-Panar, owner and director of A Star Studios for over 6 years. Anita is very passionate about dance and this is reflected in her instructors who have taught our students.

JoJo, Jheric and Stu, Anita’s instructors are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their craft. They bring an energy and spark to their classes, which have motivated and excited our students (both boys and girls) in grades 8, 9 and 10. They all have the talent to break down dance steps so that students of all ability levels can achieve success and a feeling of pride when they are able to follow and remember the choreography. The A Star Team is very professional and dependable and I would highly recommend them to enhance your existing physical education program.”

The response from parents has also been wonderful.

“We’ve all been having hip hop demonstrations at the dinner table. We’re all trying to do the ‘Coffee Grinder’” – Parent, Gr. 1 Student.

“I just wanted to tell you how much the kids loved the hip hop classes that were recently offered at UHill. Since they started, my daughter and her grade one friends have been hip hopping all the way home from the school bus! We attended a birthday party yesterday, and hip hop dancing was the featured activity for all the kids, who ranged in age up to about grade five. So thank you!”
